How a specialist consultation works

We give every consultation the time it needs — to listen, examine carefully, and explain findings in plain language. Care that fits the question, not the slot.

Thorough diagnostics

Specialist imaging – OCT, fundus camera, biometry, topography -  is part of the consultation when indicated, not booked as a separate visit. The doctor reads them on screen, with you, before recommending anything.

Honest guidance

Clear explanations. Honest recommendations — including when the right answer is to do nothing yet, or when a second opinion is worth getting. No pressure to add tests you do not need.

Before you book

A first consultation is long enough to take a thorough history, do the imaging the case calls for, and discuss the findings with you. Your doctor sets the pace.

No referral is needed. You can book directly. If you have prior records or scans from another doctor, please bring them — they help us start from where the last visit ended.

Bring your current glasses or contact lenses, a list of any medications you're taking, and any previous prescriptions or eye-imaging reports. Photo ID is helpful for the file.

Yes. Many of our patients are international residents and visitors to Ho Chi Minh City. Our International Patients team helps with logistics, language, and travel timing.

Consultations are conducted in English. Dr. JD Ferwerda is Dutch-trained and speaks Dutch; Dr. Artem Kozhechenkov speaks Russian; our front-desk team speaks Vietnamese. In-clinic interpretation can be arranged in advance for other languages — please mention this when you book.
