Good Eyes For
Good School Results

The sooner we discover children’s vision problems, the sooner we can improve their vision to help improve their school results. Our vision screening programs aim to motivate parents, students, and teachers to take action to protect children’s eyes to improve academic performance.

Do you know?

80% of a child’s learning is obtained through vision.

Why do vision screening tests?

Vision screening is used to find common vision problems that can be corrected with eyeglasses or contact lenses, including:

  • Nearsightedness (myopia)
  • Farsightedness (hyperopia)
  • Astigmatism

Hence, the sooner we discover children’s vision problems, the sooner we can improve their vision and help enhance their school results.

Beyond Academic Performance

Good academic performance

Good vision and good grades go hand in hand because 80% of what children learn in school is presented visually. Your child can be seen as a slow reader or bad in math, but actually can not see the text or numbers clearly.

Improve concentration and motivation at school

Poor vision is often the reason for lack of concentration. If a child has to spend a lot of energy trying to see things clearly, he or she will become tired faster and lose concentration, which in turn can lead to lower motivation.

Better hand-eye coordination

Studies show that children who participate in sports or other recreational activities perform well in academics. But if your child has poor vision, his hand-eye coordination will suffer as well, which will impair his ability for sports and games, which in turn can impair his social skills and lead to isolation.

Better class participation and social and emotional development

Poor vision makes it difficult to participate in classroom activities, like reading aloud or solving visual puzzles, as well as participating in sports or other activities. This, in turn, can impact your child’s self-esteem, confidence, and social relationships.

happy students

It is crucial for parents to be on the lookout for their child’s vision. Poor vision can lead to diminished concentration and motivation and lower academic performance. It can impair motor skills and physical achievements and have social and emotional impact on your child. Children do not realize they have bad vision and to the teacher it is often not clear as well.  Be sure your child has the best vision possible. Make an appointment for their eye check now.

Social Programs

Vision screening and glass fitting for kids and teens from a local orphanage

Earlier in October 2022, we welcomed kids and teens from a local orphanage for vision screening and glasses fitting at our clinic. We at the European Eye Center are happy to give back to the community when possible. Good eye health is crucial to everybody, starting when you are young. 10 young guests paid us a visit for glasses fitting following their eye screening at the clinic.

School Programs

Vision screening at Australian International School

It has been two years since our first vision screening program at Australian International School (AIS) campuses. We were back at the school for this program for the second time from April 17 to April 19, 2023.
We went through the 2 days of the program with over 300 students, and there were a lot of sweet moments with cool kids at the Thao Dien and Thu Thiem campuses. We love not only to see the students’ cute smiles but also to be more than happy to see their healthy eyes.

Vision screening at Korea Global School

On 15 June 2023, European Eye Center nurses and optometrists spent the first day of our eye-check program at Korea Global School performing vision screening for over 100 students. On 16 June 2023, we continued the second day of the program at KGS to complete the vision screening on the rest of the students.

An honor moment at the end of the vision screening program at Korea Global School on 16 June 2023. Principal Jeong Young-Oh appeared to thank Doctor JD and European Eye Center team for our dedication to improving students’ vision and school results. The success of our program is thanks to the KGS staff and teachers’ support and the students’ cooperation.

Health Fair

The U.S. Consulate Health Fair 2024

The European Eye Center was honored to participate in the Health Fair hosted by the U.S. Consulate General – Ho Chi Minh City on January 17, 2024. Dr. JD Ferwerda delivered an informative speech on Dry Eye Syndrome, and we also provided three complimentary eye tests:
👁 Vision tests
👁 Eye pressure tests
👁 Dry eye tests

We were pleased and pleasantly surprised by the considerable interest and concern shown by attendees in our eye tests. The addition of a mini-game added to the enjoyment of the event, making the overall experience smooth and delightful.
