what we do
Routine Eye Exam
Annual eye exams are more than just making sure your vision isn’t blurry.
Adults should have comprehensive eye exams every two years if there are no complaints.
However, if you’re 60 or older, you should have your eyes checked once a year to make sure you are seeing as well as you should.
Diabetic Retinopathy Treatment
Anyone with diabetes should get an annual comprehensive eye exam.
People who have type 1 or type 2 diabetes are at risk of developing serious eye conditions such as diabetic retinopathy that may even lead to blindness. If you have diabetic retinopathy, your doctor can recommend treatment to help prevent its progression.
Retinal Detachment
A retinal detachment is a condition that causes the thin retinal layer at the back of the eye to elevate and become displaced from its normal anatomical position.
Most retinal tears need to be treated by sealing the retina to the eye’s back wall with laser surgery or cryotherapy (a freezing treatment).
Glaucoma Treatment
Glaucoma is a disease that damages your eye’s optic nerve. It usually happens when fluid builds up in the front part of your eye, increasing pressure in your eye and damaging the optic nerve.
Glaucoma is a leading cause of blindness for people over 60, but blindness from glaucoma can often be prevented with early treatment.
PRELEX Vision Correction
PRELEX is eye surgery for vision correction. It uses eye surgery with lens implantation to eliminate the need for glasses and contacts for distance and near.
PRELEX also removes your natural lens at the time of surgery. This means that you will never develop cataracts in later life!
Cataract Surgery
Cataract surgery is an operation to remove your eye’s lens when it becomes cloudy, usually from aging. Your ophthalmologist will recommend removing a cataract when it keeps you from doing things you want or needs to do.
Cataract surgery is a very common, proven, and safe procedure.
Age-related macular disease
AMD is very common. It’s a leading cause of vision loss in people 50 years or older. It happens when a part of the retina called the macula is damaged.
With AMD, you lose your central vision and cannot see fine details. But your peripheral (side) vision will still be normal.
Myopia treatment
Myopia, or nearsightedness, is the most common cause of vision impairment in young people. Its prevalence in children is growing at an alarming rate and is taking on epidemic proportions.
Almost 80% of children in Asia develop myopia.
Vitrectomy for floaters
As we get older, some of us may see floating specks or “floaters” that usually drift through our field of vision. A decision to treat is based on patient complaints, symptoms, and exam findings.
Reassurance from a physician that the floaters have been evaluated and raise no threat to vision can be very helpful.
You might possibly suffer from Retina Detachment. Don't wait and have it checked by one of our specialists!
